I focus on utilizing the Orton-Gillingham approach and the Wilson Reading System to offer individualized support for students with reading challenges. By customizing lessons to address each student’s specific needs, I create a tailored and impactful learning environment. Through my experience in these methodologies, I have developed a strong insight into the difficulties students encounter and the skills to guide them in overcoming barriers, fostering self-confidence, and achieving meaningful progress.
My Story
I am a certified educator with over 25 years of experience in K-12 and post-secondary education. My passion lies in helping others achieve their dreams by advancing literacy.
I am a proud graduate of the University of Texas at Austin and earned my Master of Education in Advanced Literacy from Concordia University. Throughout my career, I have worked extensively with young learners, specializing in reading and addressing reading disabilities. My experience includes roles as both a classroom teacher and a reading interventionist.
I hold certifications as a reading specialist and structured literacy interventionist for learners from early childhood through adulthood (EC-12). My credentials also include certifications as an EC-9 generalist, EC-12 special education teacher, and Reading Specialist EC-12. I have received training in renowned programs and methodologies, including Orton-Gillingham, Wilson Reading System, Neuhaus, Reading by Design, and LETRS.
I feel fortunate to have had the opportunity to assist countless young people in developing literacy skills and building confidence in foundational reading and writing, both through online/virtual instruction and in-person settings. I am passionate about getting to know each student as an individual and creating meaningful connections to support their literacy journey.
In my free time, I enjoy creating art as a collage artist and love showcasing my work. I’m also a proud dog mom to two adorable pups: a chihuahua and an Italian greyhound puppy!
