What to Expect Working with Us
We use a client-centered approach in our services. This means the client is in the driver's seat, and we are the GPS. We don't tell our clients what to do; instead, we work together as a team to set goals and problem-solve. We also understand that tools and strategies aren't one-size-fits-all, so we take the time to get to know our clients and build a relationship of trust with them.
Our Sessions:
Executive Function Coaching and educational therapy sessions are a process that unfolds over time, consisting of three significant phases. Here's what you can anticipate during our sessions:
Phase 1: Building Trust and Assessing Skills
Our journey begins with an exciting first step! This initial phase is all about getting to know you and the student/client. During these early sessions, we focus on establishing a warm, trusting relationship while conducting informal assessments and observations. We'll engage in enjoyable activities, set achievable goals, and have open conversations about strengths and challenges.
Typically, this phase takes 2-3 sessions. However, we understand that everyone is unique, and we're incredibly empathetic and flexible. If a client needs more time—especially if they're experiencing anxiety—we'll adapt our approach accordingly. Our client's comfort and progress are our top priorities.
We recognize that everyone processes information differently, and that's perfectly okay!
During this phase, parents will receive access to documents we create through Google Drive. If needed, we'll schedule a brief 10-minute phone call or send a quick email to keep you updated. While we welcome email communication, we appreciate concise messages to ensure efficient communication.
Phase 2: Laying the Foundation for Success
Our second phase is an exciting journey of growth and discovery! We'll focus on:
-
Setting and achieving goals
-
Enhancing essential skills
-
Addressing areas for improvement
-
Fostering self-awareness
-
Providing insights into brain functioning
-
Promoting self-compassion
This phase is wonderfully flexible, free from rigid timelines, and completely tailored to the client's unique personality, processing speed, and accountability level. Clients will notice tangible progress and develop valuable resilience and life skills. This is when we will send progress emails to parents or caregivers approximately every 2-3 months.
Phase 3: Self-Advocacy and Ongoing Support
In our final phase, clients become empowered! They'll learn critical self-advocacy skills for school or work environments. We may gradually reduce session frequency or help clients "graduate" from our services, depending on their individual progress, age, and developmental journey.
Throughout our time together, we're dedicated to supporting and guiding you. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or need assistance along the way. We're here for you!
